At Aphix, we like to keep on top of new product releases, updates and developments of the ERP’s that we integrate with.

The latest update that some of our customers will experience is the SAP Business One V10.0 update which is fully supported by the Aphix platform.

The update brings new features that will help SAP users on the Aphix platform to further streamline and automate their business processes.

In this blog, we’ll explore what's new from a user perspective for our customers.

What’s new in SAP Business One v10.0?

SAP’s goal with the new v10.0 release has predominantly been all about enriching and enhancing the Digital Core of SAP Business One.

Without a doubt, their focus is mainly on streamlining the essential business processes while improving and refining the usability and extensibility of SAP Business One.

In a nutshell, SAP has updated Business One in the following areas.

  • Web client
  • Usability
  • Administration
  • Financial Management
  • Localization
  • Sales | Purchasing | Service
  • Project Management
  • Inventory | Distribution
  • Production
  • Platform | Extensibility

For more information on all the new features and benefits, you can view SAP Business One 10.0 Highlights.

Now, let’s delve into more details about the top 5+1 features of this new release.

Note that depending on your business needs these may vary for everyone. However, we are going to talk about some updates that are worth noting.

Localization - New UK (Brexit) Localization

This, perhaps, must have been the most awaited update for SAP Business One users in the United Kingdom and N.Ireland.

SAP introduced a new localization to support the post Brexit transition. Once Brexit has been officially completed, UK users will need to use this version to stay legally compliant with the current regulations.

The benefit is that businesses can have a smooth transition from pre-Brexit Great Britain localisation to the new United Kingdom localisation.

Platform | Extensibility - Microsoft Office 360 Integration

In previous versions, users have been able to integrate with certain features of OneDrive with the help of a special add-on. The new update removes the need for organisations to have to add extra plugins when using Microsoft Office 360.

More specifically, this new integration with Microsoft Office 365 and OneDrive allows document layouts, grid results and reports to be exported into Excel and Word accordingly.

Additionally, this version’s template management allows for more flexibility in reporting and document layouts management.

Lastly, SAP Business One 10.0 automatically uploads exports into OneDrive and makes it easier for users to report and manage document layouts.

Undoubtedly, users will be happy to see that a lot of manual work can now be done automatically or easier and faster than before.

Project Management - Interactive Gantt Charts

Project Management’s Gantt charts have also been updated to be more interactive, allowing projects to be easily extended and moved from within the chart.

Users that have been using Gantt charts since the beginning have probably noticed that in recent versions of Business One SAP have been improving them a lot.

In this version, Gantt charts have also been updated. Generally, they have been updated to be more interactive, allowing different project phases to be easily moved, extended or shortened from within the chart. Also, new fields have been added to represent a project’s due date and finish date.

As a result, users can now update their projects according to the different planning changes within Interactive Gantt charts which is also easier and more visually appealing.

Drill Down to G/L Account in Financial Reports

The main financial reports have been enhanced with the SAP Business One standard drillable links to the ledger details.

When it comes to financial reporting, upper management always wants to know all about it inside and out.

Luckily for them, the main financial reports have been improved further. Golden arrows have been added next to the account codes allowing users to drill down into the account record within the “Chart of Accounts”.

Also, this feature is also available for the balance sheet, trial balance, and profit and loss statements.

As a result, users now have direct access to account details and account balances of relevant accounts which in return increases usability and transparency.

Sales | Purchasing | Service - Printing Service Calls and Contracts

Additional document printing options have been added for a wide range of SAP Business One documents.

To be more precise, print preferences are now available for both service calls and service contracts. Whereas. document printing includes service calls and service contracts and helps companies save time when it comes to bulk document distribution.

This helps make the whole process of document printing/emailing and conversion to PDF, even more user-friendly.

Users also can save a lot of time with bulk processing of service calls and contracts and can reduce any levels of upkeep for document changes.

Usability - New Skin Style - Belize Deep

Note that this last point is my personal choice; it is definitely not as important update as the ones above it in terms of the various business needs. However, I never really liked the old user interface and more specifically, the blunt, plain look of SAP Business One, and it is very likely that I wasn’t the only one (or so I hope).

In this update, SAP introduced a new skin style called “Belize Deep”. In other words, the look and feel of the interface have changed to a more user-friendly one. This style was inspired by SAP Fiori design and is following the Web Client look & feel.

The new skin style adds a modern and fresh look and feel which should be a standard for all modern technology interfaces. This also harmonised the user-experience for those who work with both SAP Business One and the Web Client.

This is currently available when using the Fiori Style Cockpit.

Summary

SAP Business One users will definitely find a lot of useful new features in this update that will help them further streamline and automate their business processes.
